1. Pracovní provedení - čistota provedení, pravidelnost, ostrost a síla řezu...

3. Originalita - vedle často používaných motivů využití nového nápadu; novost by měla být rozpoznána spontánně
4. Umělecké zpracování - celkový dojem kompletního výrobku; xponát by měl vyvolávat nadšení...

General terms and conditions of the competition and exhibition:
* any citizen of the Czech Republic can participate in the competition
* foreign colleagues can also participate in the competition
* if the competitor is not 15 years old at the time of the competition, he/she needs to have a confirmation from his/her parents stating their consent with his/her participation
* photographs taken by the organisers, showing the course of the competition and the final works,
can be used in press or for promotion of competitions to be organised in the following years
* official photographs of the event can be used by other persons
only with the consent of the organiser or the co-organiser
* only the organiser and the professional supervisor of the competition are entitled to prepare
a CD, a DVD, a book or some other printed material on this event to be sold
1) Workmanship
* cleanness of the job, regularity, sharpness and strength of the cut...
2) Level of difficulty
* the number of motifs used; the use of knives and chisels, 3D features
* required time, investment of thought
3) Originality
* use of a new idea in addition to the motifs used frequently
* novelty should be recognised spontaneously
4) Artistic qualities
* the overall impression made by the finished product
* the exhibit should inspire delight….
5) Compliance with the assigned theme
* according to the terms and conditions of the competition
* depending on the score achieved, the participants will receive the following:
a gold, silver or bronze medal or a participant diploma
* the winners of the first three positions in a category will receive cups (in cat. Z/1, there will only be one cup for a team)
TRAVELLING CUP OF THE MELON FESTIVAL
* this cup will be received by that participant who will obtain the highest total score for categories Z/2 and Z/3
* the condition for giving this cup is that a minimum of 5 carvers must start in each of the two categories
* the jury will consist of leading experts on carving
Announcement of Results
* When results are announced, everyone must be wearing their work clothes - cook's jacket and work trousers (not jeans)!!!
Removal of Products
* IT IS NOT ALLOWED to remove products before the entire announcement of results is finished

Task:
* To carve a composition or a product from vegetables and fruit on any freely chosen theme.
* the exhibit must have a name and an occasion for which it was prepared must be stated (it can be a fictitious occasion)
Organiser:
will provide
* a table with a diameter of 120 cm
ATTENTION: The maximum dimensions of the exhibit are 90 x 90 cm; the max. height is 150 cm
* a white tablecloth on the table; a card with a number
Participants:
will provide
* a decoration on the table (this will not be evaluated); a label describing the product,
not mentioning any name and organisation
* ingredients
Rules of the competition:
* the team can consist of two or the maximum of three participants; or possibly the competitor can carve alone
(in the last mentioned case, the participant will be representing a team, not just himself/herself)
* each team must have a name (the name of the school, organisation or some other name)
* the composition or product must be submitted to the jury for evaluation within 7 hours
* compositions containing morally inappropriate motif will be excluded from the competition
* the size depends on the author but the composition must not exceed the defined maximum dimension
* the maximum dimensions are 90 x 90 cm; the max. height is 150 cm; the min. dimensions are 35 x 35 cm
* if dimensions are larger,
* all exhibitors will ensure that cleaning is carried out and the exhibited composition is transported away
* each exhibitor must have a card with a number next to their exhibit when evaluation is to be carried out,
otherwise the exhibit cannot be evaluated

MELON in 3 different ways
juniors + seniors
Task:
To carve decoratively 1 water melon and 2 sugar melons
ALL 3 melons should be harmonised in terms of theme; there should be a single theme for them
Theme – any desired theme, the choice is up to the competitor
(if a competitor participates in cat. Z/3, the main motif should be different!)
Organiser:
will provide
* area of ca 50x50 cm - on pedestals, tables,…
* a tag with a number (the competitor will receive it during the attendance check)
Participants:
will ensure for themselves:
* pedestals (plates) under the melons, decoration on the table (this will not be evaluated)
* a label describing the melons (optional)
not mentioning any name or organisation
Rules of the competition:
* melons will only be on display, they cannot be finished on the exhibition table
* melons with a morally inappropriate motif can be excluded from the exhibition
* the sizes and shapes of the melons are up to the author
* no additional carved products can be added to the melons
only the work on the carved melons is assessed
* each exhibitor must have a tag with a number at his or her exhibited product during evaluation,
otherwise evaluation cannot be carried out (the exhibitor will receive this tag during the attendance check)
Recommendations.
* we recommend refraining from repeating motifs too much
* with sugar melons, we recommend using two species - but the choice is up to the competitors
* competition with a time limit of 3 hours

MELON CUTTING
juniors + seniors
Task:
To carve decoratively 1 water melon and 1 sugar melon within the time limit of 3 hours
on any theme – harmonised themes
(if the competitor participates in cat. Z/2, the main motif should be different!)
Organiser:
will provide
* a table, a chair and a wastebasket
Participants:
will ensure for themselves:
* raw materials, tools, a cutting board, a bowl under the melons, wiping cloths
* possibly a tray, a pedestal for the presentation
* a competitor can use his/her own chair
Rules of the competition:
* no power tools are allowed
* the melon must not be previously prepared (peeled off) at the start
* in the non-competition part, only a test cut to identify the thickness of the peel is allowed
* it is not permitted to add previously carved products to the products (the competitor can be disqualified)
* the competitors must bring their own melons
* it is possible to have spare melons for the event of a melon cracking or being damaged in some other way
* only one piece is always carved (one water melon and one sugar melon)
* the competition is started and ended by a jury member
* every competitor must have a card with his/her name and number on his/her table, which the competitor will receive from the organiser
* every participant starts at his/her own risk
ATTENTION:
* in the carving process, a maximum of 2 water melons and 3 sugar melons can be used
* it is not possible to add other raw materials than melons
* however, the finished product must clearly highlight the 2 assigned melons
* additions made from melons can reach a maximum of 40 % of the given melon, to which they have been added
* the themes of the two melons should be harmonised
* at the start or during the competition, there must not be anything under the table (crates,
raw materials, tools, …); everything must be on the table
* the participant is not allowed to leave during the competition; if he/she needs to leave, he/she must
report his/her departure and arrival to the jury
* competition with a time limit of 30 minutes

PLATE + DRINK
juniors + seniors
Task:
To carve a plate decoration + a decoration for the assigned drink within a limit of 30 minutes
Plate decoration - any decoration as desired
* it can occupy a maximum of 1/4 of the plate
Drink decoration
SCREWDRIVER cocktail
90 ml of vodka, 200 ml of juice, ice, an orange slice (the original decoration, which you will replace with fruit)
Organiser:
will provide
* a table, a chair and a wastebasket
* a highball glass and the drink or an imitation of the drink
Participants:
will ensure for themselves
* raw materials, tools, a cutting board, a bowl under the melons, wiping cloths
* a competitor can use his/her own chair
Rules of the competition:
* no power tools are allowed
* the ingredients must not be previously prepared (peeled off) at the start
* it is not permitted to add previously carved products to the products (the competitor can be disqualified)
* the competitors must bring their own ingredients
* THE COMPETITORS MUST BE WEARING GLOVES WHEN WORKING
* 80 % and 100 % of the cocktail decoration and the plate decoration, respectively, must be edible;
* for the drink decoration:
* the decoration should not fill the entire top area
* it is only possible to use fruit and vegetables
* it is not possible to use glue
* it is possible to use metal skewers, wooden skewers, toothpicks, etc.
* the competition is started and ended by a jury member
* every competitor must have a card with his/her name and number on his/her table, which the competitor will receive from the organiser
* every participant starts at his/her own risk
* everything must be on the table
* the participant is not allowed to leave during the competition; if he/she needs to leave, he/she must
report his/her departure and arrival to the jury
