At the FAFGA in Innsbruck 32 cooking teams of 2 persons will compete from September 18 until September 20, 2012. In order to organize this cooking contest two completely equipped kitchens and a stand for 120 spectators, from which the audience can watch the contest, will be built up in the exhibition hall 4a.
Furthermore the contest is part of the fair and should become the highlight of the Tirol Catering Fair 2012.
The challenge is, to prepare within half an hour a main dish with the ingredients of a basket full of Tyrolean products. The competitors have no previous information about the ingredients.
Two teams are always competing with each other. The results will be judged by an international top-class jury, presided by GMC Hans Haller, gold medal winner and chef.
The best four teams will again compete in the semi-finals and in the final. The criteria for judging are based on the guidelines of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS)!
We would like to distribute the same prize money as in the previous competitions.
According to the international guidelines (WACS) the competitors may not be older than 25 years.

The Big Cooking Contest has been organized for six years now and has become the most important cooking event in Austria for youth teams and apprentices. The event is trendy, cool, accompanied with music and a presenter is responsible for entertainment including interviews with spectators and fair guests. The criteria for judging are based on the guidelines of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS)!
From September 17(earliest journey) to 21, 2012, accommodation and meals are provided by the Section Tirol. Please note that the
participants have to reserve the requested accommodation on their own at the following address: info@kochverbandtirol.com
Reservations have to be done by September 12, 2012.

A free shuttle service for the return trip to the venue will be organized all days of the competition.
The Association of Austrian Chefs – national section Tyrol has the right, without accepting any claim for damages, to cancel or postpone the event or to change the duration of the event or its opening hours. In case of changing the date or the duration of the event, the agreement applies for the new date or the new duration. The exhibitor has no right of withdrawal or claim for damages. The organizer does not assume any liability for accidents, injuries, or as the case may be, nor for damages concerning accommodation during the stay and the duration of the event. The respective coaches are responsible for the young people under the age of 18. Damages concerning accommodation have to be paid immediately.

A team consists of 2 persons in the vocational field cook (trainees, cook pupils, students, pupils of a school for the hotel and restaurant industry – hotel management school or tourism college - or young cooks who have finished their apprentice ship). The competitors may not be older than 25 years (U 25/deadline: 30.06.2012), which means they may not be born before 30 June 1987. A passport may be requested as evidence of age.
Participation – team composition
If a team consists of 2 young people under the age of 18, a coach, who has to accompany the team, has to be named. Accommodation for competitors and coach including half-board is provided for free by the section Tyrol. Participants only have to bring their traditional cook clothing (white). The work tool (measurer suit-case) is placed by the section. Other aids are not certified. The decision which 2 teams are competing in the qualifying is taken by the section Tyrol.
The coach is responsible for his team. He is allowed to be present during the competition, but not to help “manually”. Furthermore, while his team is cooking, he is not allowed to stay in the coaching area.

The challenge
(5 minutes to have a look at the ingredients, 5 minutes preparation time, than name the main dish and than 30 minutes for cooking and finally arranging on 4 plates) To 20. 09 a sweet main food must be created in the semi-final from the Goods basket. The allowed time amounts to in this round 45. Min. In the final a cold main food must be prepared from the given Goods basket. The allowed time amounts to in the final 30. Min.
